Blustery day results in a loss

Defeat to top of the League
Today we faced top of the table Morpeth, in what was a concerning morning weather wise. Heavy rain in the morning resulted in multiple texts asking if the game was on, including one from the opposition. Upon arrival at Norham the rain had reduced to a slight drizzle, but it was quite windy. Setting up the pitch turned out to be harder than expected as someone had removed all the pegs from the net bag, which resulted in trip back to the container to try and locate some.
Kick-off was delayed by 5 minutes while we waited for our ref to complete the game on the other pitch.
We got the game under way and we scored within the first couple of minutes, a header at Goal from Dylan and the Morpeth keeper couldn’t keep a hold of the ball and it squirmed through his hands in to the goal. We kept the lead for about 15 minutes then Morpeth equalised against the run of play. 20 minutes later and Morpeth were in front. Probably deserved as we started playing as a team of individuals, not working well as a team for the last 25 minutes of the first half. Some excellent individual play was observed though. Morpeth got their third just on the stroke of half time. 1-3 at the break.
Half-time team talk seemed to have worked as we pulled one back in the first 5 minutes of the second half. A through ball from Josh B at the back and Reece was one it to shoot one passed the Morpeth keeper. Short lived revival though as Morpeth scored again on 52 minutes and then another on 62. We were looking out of ideas as a team until Harvey popped one to Ben J on 72 minutes, Ben took a shot from between the box and half way line, straight in to the goal, was this the start of a come back? Sadly, not to be. The game remained at 3-5 until the final whistle. On another day, playing as a team that we know the lads can do, I honestly believe we could beat Morpeth, not our day though!
