Blues Beat Top of the Table Hexham to Keep Title Pressure On!
Just Keep Winning Your Games....
Blues, sitting joint second in the league met top of the table Hexham Hawks at Norham last night, in what was a must win game if they were to challenge for the title, as a win for Hexham Hawks would see them crowned Champions.
The game got off to a physical tense start with both teams going at it.
It was Hexham however who took the lead after a mix up at the back on 22 minutes.
Their joy was short lived though, as Kal Gilroy
was fouled out wide in his own half and took a quick free kick, catching Hawks off guard, and sent Archie Beales
through to level the scores 1-1.
Within a few minutes, the goal machine Beales was set free again and out-muscled 3 defenders and slotted home to put Blues 2-1 up.
Then came a moment of brilliance.
Luke Dickson won the ball out on the left on the half way line, and went past 2 players down the line, then cut inside and set to shoot, dropped the shoulder, went past another, then unleashed a powerful right foot drive to the far corner to make it 3-1 Blues, a truly stunning goal.
3-1 at half time and Blues were on fire.
Second half started frantic again, and within a minute of the restart, Luke Dickson sent Archie Beales
away with a 1 on 1 and this boy doesn’t miss those, 4-1 Blues!
Then 8 minutes later, another great pass set the free running Archie Beales
away to net his 4th and make it 5-1 Blues.
Hexham never gave up and managed to scrape 2 more goals back, one a superb free kick in all fairness, but nothing could take the shine off the Blues performance.
A dual Man of the Match vote went to Archie Beales
and Luke Dickson, both voted by the opposition who were in awe of both players efforts.
