TYNEMOUTH UTD U15 BLUES 3 NORTH SHIELDS 4
Great fightback but it was not to be
Tynemouth took the opportunity to play a friendly against North Shields.
Whilst always a competitive game the coaches were able to look at 2 trialists and see how others fared in different positions.
North Shields took the lead midway through the half but an excellent goal from Anderson with an assist from Adam Watson
drew them level. It was disappointing that lack of concentration allowed North Shields to take the lead just before half time.
In addition the home side were caught cold at the start of the second half and found themselves 3-1 down
To their credit Tynemouth rallied and took the game to North Shields. many opportunities went begging before Jack Toner
pulled a goal back from a penalty. Matthew Fairgreive made 3 outstanding saves to keep the blues in the game and when Adam Watson
equalised late in the game the comeback looked complete.
Unfortunately some lax defending allowed Shields to snatch the winner in the last couple of minutes, nevertheless this was a useful exercise with some excellent performances seen. Dean Herbertson was awarded MOM by the opposition with Fionn Given
taking the coaches vote.
