A capacity crowd of over 130 assembled at North Shields Rugby Club for the much anticipated Tynemouth United Under 12 presentation night.

Fresh from watching a strong Valley Gardens U12 team containing no fewer than 9 Tynemouth United players capture the North Tyneside Schools Cup the previous evening, a capacity crowd of over 130 assembled at North Shields Rugby Club for the much anticipated Tynemouth United Under 12 presentation night. With 58 awards to be made the pace was brisk, but allowed for a brief review of a season which had seen all 3 teams progress in the high standards of the NEYDL Under 12 league, with some of the strongest clubs in the Region represented such as Newcastle City, Cramlington and of course Tynemouth United.
All players received a mini replica Jules Rimet trophy engraved with their names for representing the club with such distinction over the season, together with after shave and hair gel set for those well groomed would-be Premiership footballers.
Time was also taken to thank those who make it all possible, with Rich, Graham & Bruce thanking their trusty lieutenants, Paul, Jez, Nick and Andy. Flowers were presented to those long suffering Football Coaches Wives, Cath, Karen and Theresa for putting up with us all, and possibly the loudest cheer of the night was reserved for the fairest man in football, Colin the Referee who not only looked after the majority of our fixtures but took succession planning so seriously he was responsible for the next generation too – Ben – who unfortunately couldn’t join us on the night.
The most popular announcement of the Evening followed ….” The buffet is now open” and then it was down to business to see whose efforts had earned the coveted Player of the Season trophy, as well as those special awards for Top Goalscorer, Most Improved, Best Attitude and Players Player. Jamie Diamond (Reds), Oscar Sowter(Blues) and Adam Beattie (Yellows) took the respective teams “Player of the Season” awards. A full list of winner is shown below:

Blues Reds Yellows
Best Attitude Tyler McQueen Ben Patrick -
Most Improved Luke Corbett Luke Scott Oli Hogg
Top Scorer Adam Johnson - Adam Beattie
Players Player Luke Corbett Robbie Fenwick Jack Beverley
Coaches / Parents Choice - Will Wigham Thomas West
Player of the Season Oscar Sowter Jamie Diamond Adam Beattie

Perhaps the most significant achievement which shouldn’t be overlooked was the fact that 45 footballers had been given the chance to play “proper” football and get off their X-boxes for a few hours each week. Here’s to another successful season in 2014/15 with the soon to be U13’s looking forward to the step up to 11aside and joining Club colleagues at Norham.
