The U13 Blues were out played by a well drilled Whitley Bay Fc Porto side on a cold, blustery morning at Foxhunters. The Blues started well, coping with the quick movement of the ball by WBFC. However, some overplaying at the back led to Oscar being beaten at the far post , when the ball was needlessly given away and the WBFC punished the Blues. Disappointingly, the Blues never recovered from the set back and WBFC were on the score sheet again when their pacy striker latched onto the ball over the top and despite a gutsy effort from Martin to tackle back, they added to their Tally.
Changes were made at half time with Will coming on for unwell Daniel. Options were limited from the bench, with top striker Sam and injured Thomas unavailable. Man of the match Harry offered the Blues only threat going forward in a disappointing team display, where passes were inaccurate and the Blues lacked the invention and energy necessary to beat the WBFC defence. The game finished 4-0 in the end.
The boys need to learn quickly from this and start to go into games, no matter who the opposition is, believing we can win. They need to improve thinking speed and decision making as well as passing accuracy. Three games left before the cut, so we are still in control in second place. Hopefully back to winning ways next Saturday at home to Corbridge United.
