The Under 13 Blues continued their unbeaten run with another solid performance against a Haltwhistle team who were unable to field a complete team of players. In the spirit of competition, Jack and Will kindly offered their services to ensure the opposition could play the match. Jack was to play the first half and Will the second. Well done for showing sporting spirit lads. The game was also delayed by the late attendance of the Ref but a big thank you to Simon Ward who took on the refereeing duties until the arrived.
The starting line-up was Oscar, Thomas, Martin, Daniel,Will, Charlie P, Harry, Blake, Charlie W, Lucas and Sam with Noah ready to come on when needed.
The Tynemouth boys made their intentions known from the start. An early corner was won and Charlie P supplied the perfect ball for Thomas to leap like a salmon place his glancing header into the far corner. Sam then went close when defence splitting ball from Harry almost found him only for the keeper to get there first. For our next chance Oscar was the provider with a great clearance that landed perfectly for Lucas to run on to and shoot producing a great save from the Haltwhistle keeper. The opposition then won a freekick in a dangerous area but Oscar was equal to it making a routine save. It was Haltwhistle’s turn to increase the pressure and they came close again but thankfully Oscar was ready to make the save. Thankfully after surviving the mounting pressure from the opposition Sam stepped up with another goal to add to his increasing collection. Again Charlie P providing the telling cross. Euan then scored with a ball over the keeper from a neat move involving Charlie W and Sam. Haltwhistle thought they were back in the game only for Oscar to produce a stunning save . Charlie P then scored a great goal with a low strike from outside the area. Minutes later Harry then scored his first goal for the club with a thundering drive into the roof of the net. Haltwhistle were not out of it yet when they replied instantly with a goal of their own. Just before time was up Lucas went on a mazy run skipping past player after player only for the keeper to save his shot.
The wind started to pickup in the second half and really effected the flow of the game. The match started to become a little scrappy with both sides guilty of mis-placing passes and scrappy long balls. Thomas and Martin using their pace to smother any potential Haltwhistle attacks. Any attacks down the wing were effectively dealt with by Daniel and Jack. An unfortunate injury to Jack meant Oscar coming on to help out in defence, and proving to be as confident an outfield player as he is in goal. A few early chances for Charlie W and Sam to increase the lead but we had to wait until halfway through the second half to extend our lead. Man of the Match Harry’s second goal was simply brilliant, running from his own half he weaved through the defence and finishing calmly passed the keeper. Special Mention to Harry for his performance as he not only scored a brace of goals, but also for his non-stop performance in midfield, winning back the ball and starting off attacks. Only 5 minutes now remained, when Blake decided to get in on the act by adding 2 of his own from close range.
Well done again lads! Another fine performance from the whole team.
