Positive performance from Under 12 Blues
Building on lessons.............
Building on lessons from the TUFC tournament the team were looking to prove what a good side they are. Midweek training had gone well and many parents had commented to us on how much sharper they looked. Hopefully this would carry on into the first game of the season. During the summer we had acquired a few more players to our squad and were able to offer Charlie P his debut league game with the Blues.
Our first game of the new season was away to Hazelrigg which we knew was going to be a tough test for the boys. We started the match with Noah in goal with Thomas, Jack and Blake at the back. In midfield there was Charlie W, Euan, Daniel and Charlie P. Finally in attack we started with Lucas .
The game started with both teams evenly contested, Tynemouth did not look out of place against a former premier league side. However, ten minutes in, the opposition won a free kick just outside the penalty area and superbly dispatched the ball into the top right-hand corner leaving Noah with little chance of making the save. Tynemouth regrouped and were instantly level when Euan played a through ball for debutant Charlie P to score into the bottom left. Concentration again let us down as Hazelrigg regained the lead when a long ball reached their forward and took it past Noah to make it 2-1. Again, we equalised very quickly when Charlie P received the ball just outside the box, cutting inside and firing low into the bottom left of their goal in a superb solo effort. Tynemouth then took the lead with a superb control and volley from Sam (who had just come on) after Charlie P had played the ball over a group of defenders.
Halftime with the Blues in front.
The second half started with Ben and Will in midfield. Tynemouth continued to work hard throughout the remainder of the game but Hazelrigg’s tactic of playing long ball due to the grass being quite long was ultimately our undoing. We were caught out a few times by this strategy and also struggled to clear out the ball during corners so sadly they went on to score 3 more goals despite the excellent defensive efforts of Thomas who was awarded Man of the Match. Tynemouth had chances to reduce the deficit through Lucas, Euan, Sam and Charlie P but none were able to find the back of the net. Some good individual performances and Charlie P had an excellent first league game for the blues.
Despite the scoreline there were a lot of positives to the game as we worked hard and made plenty of chances .There is a strong feeling of optimism for the rest of the season. We just need to be more organised in defence and a bit sharper in front of goal.
