Brave Yellows Bow Out To Top Side
The Yellows faced North Shields in the EYD Cup Semi-Final hoping for a huge giant killing against their Premiership opponents.
It was always going to be a tough ask against a top side but the boys were magnificent throughout and were always in the game until the last few minutes. The first half seen both sides competing well especially in midfield and the home side looked dangerous when going forward without really testing the Shields keeper. At the back Nathan and Harry were standing up to everything being thrown at them and even when the visitors got a shot away, Zack was on hand in goal to safely gather. The Premiership team took the lead with a breakaway goal which seen a three man move finish with a low drive, but the boys stuck at it and at half time the deficit was only 1-0, in the main down to a great point blank save by Zack. The second half seen the Yellows midfield start to get on top with Lucas, Lewis and Daniel all putting themselves about and making it uncomfortable for the visitors and from time to time half chances were created but the keeper in the Shields goal denied the underdogs. Everyone was wanting a goal to come to take it to extra time but as the home side searched for the equalizer they were caught on the break and punished for it. The boys have been excellent all season and to give one of the best sides in the North East a tough cup game shows that this team can keep progressing in the right direction. Harry (pictured) just pinched the man of the match award from Zack, Nathan and Lucas, but on this occasion it was definitely all about the team.
