The Yellows went top of the table after a comfortable win over Ponteland after dominating the game for long periods.
The result was also pleasing as it avenged a cup defeat to the same opposition only two weeks earlier. The incentive of going top was all the boys needed and a very professional display followed after an early scare when Zack made a fabulous save to deny the Ponteland forward. Even though Zack had little to do his handling and kicking were faultless all game and provided a comfort for the home side. The deadlock was broken after 20 minutes when Lucas managed to get to the byline and cross to the near post for top scorer Astin to swivel and prod home from close range. Early in the second half the much needed second came when Daniel played a ball into Rowen (pictured) on the edge of the box and he turned past the defender before hammering it past the keeper who managed to get a hand to the ball. The best goal of the game came soon after when Josh held the ball up well and played a perfect ball in for Lucas to run onto and give the keeper no chance. A very pleasing display by the boys with Harry and Nathan once again looking the perfect pair in defence but it was Lucas who was awarded man of the match after a workmanlike display as he never give the opposition a minute on the ball.
