The Yellows went into this top of the table clash at Norham in good form before the Xmas break but were unable to continue in that manner.
Over the last couple of seasons these matches have always been tight affairs but with Tynemouth winning them, however right from kick off the Lions were well up for the battle and took an early lead when a speculative long range shot caught Zack off his line and looped in to give the boys a big task. The rest of the half was a dogged affair with no real clear cut chances made apart from a brilliant Lucas header from a corner just flying over the bar. The Yellows tried different formations and personnel to try and get the breakthrough but nothing seemed to be paying off, despite being the side on top. With ten minutes remaining the equalizer came when after great play from Lucas outside the area the ball fell to Rowen who slipped the ball through for Astin (pictured) to finish well in the far corner. A draw would have been took at this point as the performance was not to the usual standards, but some sloppy defending on the left allowed Grainger Park to regain the lead almost immediately when their forward poked home. As the Yellows rallied to get another equalizer a long range shot from the edge of the box sailed in for the opposition and send then to the top of the table, one point ahead of Tynemouth. A tough result for the boys to take but a lot of lessons learnt from the coaching team to ensure a better showing in next week's home cup game. Astin was awarded man of the match for a hard working performance leading the line.
