The Yellows knew that they would be in for a tough test against East End but stuck to the tactics set out perfectly to get the win.
The boys have started this season in the same manner they ended last year and have now won their first 3 games to lead the Division 2 league table at this early stage. Today's game was a full blooded affair and the referee had to make some tough decisions throughout the game including issuing yellow and red cards which was required. The first talking point was when the home side were awarded a penalty after 5 minutes, which after a long delay was dispatched by Josh (pictured) despite the keeper getting a hand to the ball. East End equalised soon after when the boys failed to deal with a through ball down the middle which allowed their striker to move on and finish well past Zack in goal. The rest of the half seen the Yellows dominate, without taking the chances that came their way and it looked like the teams would be level at the interval but then the front two of Astin and Josh combined to see Josh turn inside the defender and power a shot into the roof of the net. The second half was tight with some battling performances from the boys, especially Lucas who upto his injury put in a spectacular performance and Rory who won every ball and tackle in what was one of his best performances for the team. The away side were reduced in numbers following a sending off and the Yellows seen out the win quite comfortably before a few more cards were shown near the end of the game to both sides. Astin was awarded man of the match following a solid performance up front. This was a great result for the boys and one that hopefully shows we can mix it at the higher level and continue to progress. The parents too played their part today and that inspires the team when they are encouraging them - well done everyone!!
