Hornets come out on top as Under 11 age group fill top 3 places!!!

The future looks very rosey for the Club after the 3 Under 11 teams filled the top 3 places in this season's Team of the Year award. The Hornets had a great first season at 9 a side. They started the season well by winning the Burradon Tournament & finishing runners-up in the Tynemouth Tournament. The team had 5 new players join them this season and they obviously fitted in well with team with the team only losing twice in the first 6 months of the season. They progressed to the 1/4 finals of the cup during that time. They recovered from a mini blip, where they lost 2 league games on the back of being knocked out of the cup, to win their remaining 8 games which secured them 2nd place in the league. In their 8 game winning streak they beat the top team in the league 5-0 !!!
They finished the season winning 21 games & drawing 2 scoring 151 goals in the process. The team really deserve the award as they have had a truly fabulous season.
The runners up were the U11 Wasps, who were also making the move up to 9 a side this season. The Wasps have shown great improvement this season and have developed their players really well. They finished the season winning 9 games, drawing 0 & losing 15. The remarkable stat is that despite losing 6 games more than they won their goal difference finished as -1. The development of the team is there for all to see considering that last season the team suffered loses in double figures. Lets hope the team can use this season as the foundation to build on next season and continue their development.
In 3rd place was U11 Yellows who were in their 1st ever season as a team this year. The team played on a Sunday in the Pinpoint League. None of the players had played in a team before this season so it stands to reason that the start of the season was difficult for them. They reached the Xmas break without registering a win, this trend continued in January. But in February the team signed 3 new players and with the rest of the players all deveoping well the Yellows finished the season with a flourish winning 4 straight games and earning a 4-4 draw against the top team. The signs are very promising for next season if the team can progress together.
