Reds rampant in the face of the Hurricane

by Bruce Parvin

The Reds finally got the win their improved recent performances deserved

acing a gusty breeze as well as the Hurricanes the Reds exploded from the blocks to put the game beyond doubt in the first fifteen minutes

Lining up with Chris in goal, Josh and Luke at the back, a midfield of Finlay, Connor and Micky with Robbie up front, the reds were quickly into their stride and goals from Micky (2),Robbie & Finlay (2) put the Reds in a seemingly unassailable 5-0 lead. Sharp pssing. awareness at thrown ins, quality crossing and good penalty box play brought its rewards.

From the scoreline you would think it was one way traffic but that was not the case with Josh and Luke needing to stay alert at the back, despite the occasional foray forward (!). Guide Post converted one chance but Harry’s introduction into midfield restore the balance and, together with Gavin patrolling right midfield and half time came with the Reds leading 5-1.

After a break Connor came back on and scored with virtually his first touch - a sharp break down the right and good finish into the corner of the net. With Matt and Josh keeping things tight at the back Chris was rarely called upon but the whole defense proved up to the task with a second half clean sheet.

Therewas still time left for Micky to complete his hat trick – following up a great effort from Luke to round off the scoring 7-1 at the final whistle.

Tough to call a man of the match when the whole team put in a fantastic performance but Connor just pipped Micky for his box to box performance.
